Outdoor Tiling in Perth: What You Need to Know About Weather Resistance

By Garry Brownlie : GIB Tiling

After years of installing outdoor tiles across Perth’s diverse suburbs, from coastal properties battling salt air to inland homes facing extreme temperature fluctuations, I’ve gained valuable insights about what truly works in our unique climate.

Today, as one of Perth’s most experienced tilers I’ll share my practical experience about choosing and installing weather-resistant outdoor tiles that can handle Perth’s challenging conditions.

Understanding Perth’s Climate Challenges

Our local weather creates specific demands on outdoor tiling that you won’t find in many other Australian cities:

Coastal Considerations

  • Beachside Challenges
    • Salt air exposure
    • Wind-driven sand
    • Intense UV radiation
    • Temperature fluctuations

Inland Factors

  • Suburban Conditions
    • Extreme heat
    • Winter frost risk
    • Dramatic temperature changes
    • Heavy rain events

Real Project Experience

One of our clients, Andy Wong, shared: ”

Garry is the man. I found him online due to the amazing online review and rating and he lived up to it. He promised to work on it and delivered.

Further detail for those who are interested:
I am an interstate investor and I have never been to my property before. It’s not hard to imagine that I do not know about my property as well as my agent. It’s been really hard to organise a tiler to attend my property due to availability, 3 way phone calls between the agent , myself and the tiler. I called Garry up and spoke with him , he worked with my agent to carry out the work. There were hick ups in the process , such as access time and date. I have seen other tiler just started ghosting and not answering calls, or flat out just say it’s not something that they do. Garry and his team got the skill to get the job done , on top of that reply and address your concern in a professional manner. Recommend. Thanks Garry”

What Andy didn’t mention was how we specifically selected materials and techniques to ensure his outdoor tiles would withstand Perth’s very hot days!

How High Pressure Cleaning Can Remove Mould From Your Home’s Exterior

How High Pressure Cleaning Can Remove Mould From Your Home's Exterior

One of the worst organic substances that can attach itself to the exterior of your home is mould, and this is why many homeowners require the services of a high pressure cleaning company to get rid of it. One of the main reasons you need to remove mould from your home’s exterior, apart from how unsightly it makes your home look,  is that it is destructive. In addition, it can also cause several health issues too.

As for its destructive properties, mould causes issues ranging from discolouration and staining of surfaces to rotting the materials on the outside of your home to the extent that they need replacing, which could result in huge costs being incurred. One material to look out for is  limestone, as it can become plauged with mould and requires high pressure limestone cleaning to remove it.

More serious than that are the health implications of having mould growing around your home’s exterior. Mould can induce breathing difficulties and coughing, and can also irritate the eyes and the throat. It is especially troublesome for those with conditions such as asthma or allergies.

Hopefully, you will agree that mould is something which you want to eliminate as quickly as possible. Delaying or ignoring it can mean that the mould grows unfettered, and if allowed to do so, when you do eventually get around to dealing with it the damage to health and property could be significantly more serious than it would have been had you dealt with it earlier.
